"The Short and Long of It"

As you deal with behavior concerning your child- are you looking for short term results or long term outcomes? Too often, we pacify for the moment rather than thinking how will this shape them for the future. Sometimes, we have to meet their immediate needs and that is understandable but the times we can, we must consider, am I teaching independence or codependence? Am I truly thinking about what is best for this child's future or do I just need them to be quiet for the moment? Raising a child to be a productive adult begins now. Ponder that thought and then respond in the child's best interest long term as often as you can and it will become a pattern. You will be preparing them for a bright future.
