Back to School

A new school year—what thoughts come to mind?  Crisper mornings, back to a schedule, new lunchboxes and backpacks, busy days, football games, apple season, less daylight.  Hopefully your memories are sweet of back to school.  There are certain smells, sights, and sounds that take you back.

As we enter this new school year, we pray for safety over our children and staff.  We pray for adjustments to be made with new environments, new classrooms, new structure.  We pray for playground safety and gym time safety as children learn new physical skills and try out new things.  We pray for patience, stamina, and endurance for staff as they learn new personalities and learning styles of children.

Fred Rogers said this, “Play is serious learning.  Play is the work of children.”  I say, it may look like play, but there is intention and purpose behind what we do at school.  For preschoolers, back to school means learning how to function in a space with other children and do so appropriately.

We pray at Brook Hollow, school will always be fun, nurturing and love with guidance.  May we all work together to offer wonderful opportunities of play sprinkled with purpose and passion.  Thank you for the gift of teaching and training your child.
